New Armed Forces Tinnitus Support Group Launches
We’re proud to announce the launch of a new Armed Forces Tinnitus Support Group, created specifically for veterans and those currently serving who are living with tinnitus.
For many people in the armed forces community, tinnitus is an invisible but life-changing condition. It can affect sleep, concentration, confidence and mental wellbeing — and too often, people feel they have to cope alone. This new group is designed to change that.
A safe space to connect with others who understand
The Armed Forces Tinnitus Support Group is a monthly online gathering, taking place on the third Thursday of every month. It offers a supportive, informal space where people can:
- Share experiences of living with tinnitus
- Exchange practical tips and coping strategies
- Ask questions and learn from others
- Feel heard, understood and less alone
Whether you’re newly affected by tinnitus or have been managing it for years, you are very welcome.
Family members and friends are also encouraged to attend, recognising the important role they play in supporting those living with tinnitus.
Meet your group facilitator: Lisa Caldwell
The group will be led by Lisa Caldwell, a veteran and dedicated Tinnitus UK volunteer.
After losing hearing and developing tinnitus in her right ear in 2005, Lisa retrained and now develops practical, adaptable tools to help people better manage tinnitus and hyperacusis. As The Tinnitus Coach, she draws on both her lived experience and professional training to support individuals in building confidence, resilience and a better quality of life alongside tinnitus.
Lisa brings a deep understanding of the challenges faced by the armed forces community, alongside a compassionate, practical approach to support.
Who is the group for?
This support group is open to:
- Veterans or those currently serving in the armed forces who are struggling with tinnitus
- People with tinnitus who feel able to share coping strategies and advice
- Family members or friends supporting someone with tinnitus
What to expect
The group focuses on peer support and shared experience. It is not a substitute for a personalised tinnitus management plan, and individual medical advice cannot be given during the sessions.
What you can expect is understanding, encouragement and the reassurance that you are not facing tinnitus alone.
What you’ll need to join
- A computer, tablet or smartphone with Zoom installed
- A quiet, private space to join from
- A willingness to listen, share and support others
You don’t have to suffer in silence
Living with tinnitus can feel isolating, particularly for those who have served in the armed forces. This group exists to offer connection, understanding and practical support in a safe and welcoming environment.
We’d be very glad to have you join us.
